Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Texas Volt Yard LLC ("Texas Volt Yard", "we") collects, why, who we share it with, and your choices. It applies to our website and services in the United States.

What we collect

• Account info: name, email, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), business name, phone, and location. Sellers who buy shipping labels through us must add a ship-from address and phone number, because carriers require them.
• Listings and orders: lot details and photos, offers, orders, shipping addresses, tracking numbers, package weight and size, ship-from ZIP code, shipping rates and labels, messages, ratings, strikes, and problem reports with photos.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Sellers give identity and bank details directly to Stripe to get paid.
• Tax exemption certificates: if you're a business buyer and upload a resale or exemption certificate under Account > Tax exemption, we collect the certificate file and what's on it (business name, address, permit or certificate number, and the state it's for). We store it privately, never on a public page. Only our admins review it, and we use it only to decide whether to charge sales tax on your orders and to keep the tax records the law requires.
• High-volume seller information: if you become a high-volume seller under federal law (the INFORM Consumers Act, see Terms section 4B), we collect your bank account information, tax identification number and contact details (directly or through Stripe) to verify you, as the law requires.
• Technical: a sign-in cookie and basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested).

Why we use it

• To run the marketplace: show listings, process orders, hold and release payments, track shipments, and send order emails and saved-search alerts.
• To enforce the rules: deadlines, strikes, suspensions, and reviewing problem reports.
• To keep the site secure, prevent fraud, and follow the law (for example, tax records).

Who we share it with

• The other party to your order (for example, the seller gets the buyer's shipping address and the buyer sees the seller's pickup city).
• Service providers who help us run the site, only for that purpose:
  • Stripe: payments, seller payouts, identity checks, fraud screening, and sales tax calculation (Stripe Tax gets the delivery or pickup address and the order amounts).
  • Resend: sending our emails.
  • EasyPost: shipping rates, address checks, shipping labels and tracking. To show rates at checkout, we send the seller's ship-from ZIP code, the buyer's delivery ZIP code, and the package weight and size. To check an address, we send it to EasyPost. To buy a label, we send the seller's name, company, ship-from address and phone number, and the buyer's name, delivery address and phone number (if the buyer gave one; if not, the seller's phone goes in its place), plus package details. EasyPost passes this to the carrier (USPS, UPS or FedEx).
  • Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx and freight carriers): the names, addresses and phone numbers on the label and the package details, so they can deliver the package and contact you about delivery.
  • Cloudflare: storing listing and problem-report photos and tax exemption certificates in private storage (R2), running our domain name, and forwarding email sent to our addresses.
  • Fly.io: hosting the website (United States).
  • Turso: our database.
• Buyers, if you are a high-volume seller with $20,000 or more in yearly sales on the site: federal law requires us to show your name, physical address and contact information to buyers (see Terms section 4B).
• Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our users and the site.
• A buyer of our business, if Texas Volt Yard LLC is ever sold or merged.

We do not sell your personal information, including sensitive data, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We don't collect your precise location (GPS); we only use the city you type in.

Cookies

We use one necessary cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout pages for payments and fraud prevention.

How long we keep it

We keep account info while your account is open. Order, payment, and tax records, including tax exemption certificates, are kept for as long as tax law requires (in Texas, generally at least 4 years after the last sale a certificate covers). Server logs are kept for a short time. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.

Your choices and requests

• You can edit your account details and turn off saved-search alerts at any time.
• You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information, or to close your account, by emailing support@texasvoltyard.com. We will respond within 45 days. Some order and tax records must be kept for legal reasons.
• Texas residents may have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.

Security

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, private photo storage, and signed payment webhooks. No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

Children

The site is not for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new version here with a new date.
